“Story telling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today”

The Department of Library, National Public School, Yeshwanthpur in association with Orient BlackSwan, organised a workshop on the topic “The Art of Storytelling” session for teachers of Pre-primary and Classes 1 and 2 on Monday, 26 May 2025. Ms Ramya Srinidhi, the renowned story teller, educator and actor was the esteemed guest narrator and trainer for the session.
The aim of storytelling is to develop ways on how to structure ideas, organise information and communicate effectively. Ms Ramya engaged the teachers to narrate stories through role-plays and actions. She used ways and means of stories as examples while narrating, including puppet show, Kamishibai (Japanese way of storytelling), usage of creative props and interactive approaches, enlightening teachers’ thoughts and ideas, thereby encouraging their active participation. She suggested teachers to use relevant objects while taking up storytelling sessions and make their classrooms lively.
Principal, Ms Sheeja Manoj emphasised the importance of narrating stories to children and suggested teachers to follow a path where children can enjoy their active learning through materials and props. The teachers enjoyed the session thoroughly.
